Touchpoints

Online banking

So I want to use online banking as a touchpoint because South Africa is the leading country in online banking and the majority of the country prefers to use online banking instead of psychical.

More than 30.4 million South Africans—55.5% of the population—live on less than 992 rands (about $75) per person per month. – internet.

so after spending at least an hour on trying to find out which bank the lower income bracket uses I finally found out that Standard bank ‘accordingly’ caters the most to lower income earners.

So following with the logic that 55% of the population are lower income earners, i need to find the bank that caters for the majority of the population.

PAMS compared South Africa’s main banks; First National Bank (FNB), Standard Bank, ABSA and Nedbank.

According to the 2017 information, 9.17 million use Capitec Bank as their main bank.

Absa came in second with 5.06 million customers using it as their main bank, followed by FNB with 5.01 million people, then Standard Bank (3.97 million) and Nedbank (3.36 million).

ok so I just realized that online banking doesn’t have external ads so that will not work. But luckily a classmate pointed out to me that in the psychical bank there are ads running on screens in front of waiting lines. I could air my ad to bored people cueing for bank assistance.

Facebook

excerpt from:

South African Journal of Information Management

Facebook remains the most popular social networking site in South Africa, followed by YouTube and Twitter (World Wide Worx 2015). Interestingly, Facebook usage among males and females in South Africa is argued to be equal (World Wide Worx 2015). About 5.6 million males and approximately 5.6 million females use Facebook, thereby giving a total estimate of 11.2 million Facebook users countrywide. In support of the mentioned statistics, BusinessTech (11 September 2015) reported that data published by Facebook South Africa indicated that there are 12 million monthly active Facebook users, with 7.3 million accessing the websites on mobile phones. Other research has also found mobile phone usage to be a popular tool among students to access social media sites (Shava, Chinyamurindi & Somdyala 2016).
