Campaign-case study

The script for campaign video:

I need to create a script for my campaign so that I can start adding visual content.

Amongst a list of nine societal issues, littering was the topic I chose to pursue. Pipe leakage along the MsunDuzi river causes raw sewerage to be pumped downstream from its source near Joburg to the river mouth in Durban. Along the way, the residents who live along the river are subjected to high readings of the toxic E.coli bacterium. Because the residents rely on the water as a source of washing, cleaning cooking utensils as well as drinking they are likely to fall risk of infection having their health and livelihood threatened.

so I made a digital motion graphic campaign aimed at the people who live along the banks of the Msunduzi river, this was to create awareness as well as solutions to making the water sanitary and drinkable. Also to stop dumping as well as report leaking of broken sewerage pipes.

I have created three different touchpoints to lure the viewer to accessing my campaign’s website and watch the 90s video. You might say that it is pointless to create a digital campaign to an audience who won’t be able to access it? However Studies show that this is not the case, with over 12 million active Facebook users Nationwide and smartphones becoming increasingly cheaper, people who live in rural areas have access to social media.

Facebook being the most popular social media platform, is not only affordable but also highly effective targeting specific demographics to make a lasting impression of your brand.

Youtube ranks second in the most used platforms, it is not only widespread but has been shown to influence buyer behaviour.

I also chose to use clickable web banner ads to entice traffic towards my site.

So with that in mind lets be proud of emFuleni Yami and help spread the word about this campaign. By reaching the communities who live along the river banks, we can help change perceptions of the rivers water quality and promote people to live smarter and healthier lives.
